Regulatory opposition and approval
Unlike many peer-to-peer startups and Transportation Network Companies , because RedTopCars users are driving the cars themselves, RedTopCars does not face an uncertain legal and regulatory landscape, and cannot be criticized by entrenched commercial enterprises, including taxi services. You can hail an available RedTopCar in the street or book it in advance using the RedTopCar app.
Pricing and payments
Cost will be around €15 for 50 km. RedTopCars pricing is based on fuel consumption and calculated on a time basis although all hiring and payment is handled exclusively through RedTopCars and not with the driver personally.
Operation
In order to request a RedTopCar, riders need to download the RedTopCars app to their iPhone or Android-based phone, sign-in and enter a valid phone number and credit card details. Alternatively you can also hail/flash an available RedTopCar in the street using your smartphone flash (available RedTopCars have recognisable flashing signals that stop when booked). When a passenger wants a ride, he or she opens the app and sees a map displaying the locations of the nearest RedTopCars available. After tapping to request a ride, the app shows the real time position of the incoming RedTopCar and remaining time to point A. Next, RedTopCars driver will arrive and leave the driving seat to the rider. The mirrors, seat, controls and seatbelt adjustments will be automatically recognised, saved and communicated to all RedTopCars for a potential next ride. After the ride is complete to point B, payment is made through the app.
